Algonquin Golf Club was founded in 1899, with a rough 9-hole course in Webster Park. After a brief hiatus, the club reopened at its current Berry Road location in 1903. Renowned golf architect Tom Bendelow designed the new 9-hole layout on rolling Missouri countryside.

Over the years, Algonquin continued enhancing its facilities. The course expanded to 18 holes in 1913. Prior to Algonquin's 2003 centennial celebration, extensive upgrades added striking white sand, contoured fairways, colorful flowers and trees. 2010 brought a major redesign by architect Arthur Hills, installing new bentgrass greens and zoysia fairways.

Recent years saw a full transformation of Algonquin's popular 19th hole grill, alongside a new poolside bar and upgraded locker areas. Acclaimed architect Brian Silva helped redesign Algonquin's classic course in the 1990s. Under the stewardship of dedicated leadership and grounds staff, it remains committed to continuous improvement for an engaging, meticulously conditioned member and guest experience. Algonquin continues honing its century-old heritage of golfing enjoyment and camaraderie in the heart of St. Louis.
